Azumme Degun is a career development professional with expertise in immigrant career advisory, cultural intelligence, job search strategies, stakeholder engagement, and diversity and inclusion advocacy. Azumme leads the team that helps immigrant professionals leverage the power of mentoring in their job search while also helping managers and employers harness Edmonton’s global talent pool. Azumme is currently studying for an Advanced Certificate in Leadership at the University of Alberta.
With a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and over 12 years of experience spanning banking, government, and not-for profit, Azumme has an avid interest in seeing new immigrants settle into Canada.

Elena Chernaeva is a netowrking specialist responsible for programs such as Speed Career Networking, Smart Connections, Connector Program, and The Global Talent Conference.
Elena has an academic background in Linguistics and Cultural Studies and has a Master’s degree from the University of Alberta and Diploma in Career Development with Concordia University College. She is also a certified Career Development Professional with the Career Development Association of Alberta.

Sarah is a human resource professional with more than 10 years of experience in the maritime industry in the Philippines and a registered Professional Recruiter with the Institute of Professional Management.
After supporting and availing the services of various settlement agencies across Edmonton, Sarah started as an ERIEC mentee in 2016 and now manages the intake, retention, and performance management of the ERIEC mentees. She enjoys working with immigrants as a way of paying it forward for all the insight and support she received during her settlement journey.

With over 10 years of administration and marketing work experience in China, April started as a mentee through the Career Mentorship Program of ERIEC. She found her first professional job in Canada with the help of her mentor and the ERIEC team, and was an active volunteer before joining the team. She looks forward to supporting more new immigrants in achieving success in their careers.
Gustave is a service-orientated administrative professional with 20 years of experience in the hospitality environment, including in seniors' facilities and nonprofit organizations.
As a Program Assistant, Gustave's works closely with mentees by screening their applications, inviting them for information sessions, and responding to all questions. Gustave can speak and serve clients in English and French. He understands how new professional immigrants may struggle and enjoys working at ERIEC where he can help them integrate professionally and socially in Edmonton.
The Edmonton Region Immigrant Employment Council (ERIEC) is comprised of senior executives that provide leadership and guidance to this initiative. ERIEC was established in the Edmonton region to offer support to the business community in finding those individuals with the right combination of skills, abilities, and experience needed to maintain a competitive business advantage.
